Would it be optimal to suspend it above head level with one hand, like you would for a seal at a water show, so the thrower can run through and attack it with both hands in launch position?
The ball is already in its descent when the thrower receives it. NOT ideal. Let’s not put all the blame on Jesse though; the player needs to seize the moment and arrive at the ball before it reaches its apex to facilitate a smoother reception-to-release flow. There’s just a lot of wasted motion here, and that could cost Canada dearly if they advance to the knockouts.
My thoughts exactly. I think down the line Jesse might want to think about attending a workshop maybe or taking private lessons with Berhalter. Clearly the talent is there but he just lacks that final touch.

I can provide a diagram if needed.
Definitely room for further analysis here.

Passes like these reveal why Jesse wasn’t fit for the USMNT manager job.

and you are as well
There might be some value in Marsch pre-setting the topspin in the direction of the eventual throw, something that a bounce pass can't do...
And I assumed you'd focus on the full training kit and especially the shorts Jesse chose. That's the Watke difference.
Who got the USMNT job, and who had to settle for the CanadaMNT job? Case closed.
