Thought provoking piece. Watching live, I was wondering if this new development - Greg joining the fray on the field, twice - is about something deeper. A yearning for his playing days? Watching the hapless game against Jamaica, maybe he thought that, were he in the current crop’s shoes, he could’ve showed more fight. A rejection of something even greater? CONCACAF, FIFA, soccer norms, The Man even? Or perhaps a subtle nod to twitter users and podcasters: “this is my team, and I am one of the guys.” Whatever is going on, something is brewing within Berhalter
I really wanted to see if he would’ve squared up to Edson Alvarez there. Gregg has had a chip in his shoulder. I think he would’ve gained the respect of a Jesse Marsch or Tactical Manager if he had a boxing weigh-in style stare down with Edson!

"when Berhalter was just a normal coach"
Like Gio, Gregg did his research. He knew the ref was Canadian and would allow a lot if it was done in a chill and non-threatening manner.
Gregg is always prepared.
One thing I haven’t heard much about is Gregg’s footwear. Do we just not care about that anymore?!
