Gregg Berhalter sent shockwaves through the soccer community yesterday with his official declaration that St. Louis is the soccer capital of the United States. A panic broke out on social media that two days in shows little sign of subsiding. People are understandably frightened.
I've been tipping over trash cans in Kansas City all morning in response to this. I had been doing that for other reasons (recreation, exercise) before this, but now I'm doing it for this reason
Like... he can't just DO this because he feels like it! Authoritarianism is out in the open in every facet of our lives and Berhalter has embraced it without a blink!
This is clearly a threat to Soccer Democracy. I propose we immediately form an initiative to elect Soccer Senators to write a Soccer Constitution so that tyrants like Berhalter can not rule on their petty whims.
